Parentpack

Helping lone parents help themselves by providing access to onsite and offsite vocational courses, supported job applications, job brokerage, progress plans,and personal guidance. Help is available in the form of onsite crèches and bursary support for childcare costs, fares, course fees, books and materials. In partnership with INBIZ, parentapck is also able to assist lone parents interested in starting their own businesses through advice, training and funding. The project organises holiday outings and social events to bring lone parents together. Parentpack has a special project called Dad's Place for lone and part-time fathers too, providing events and activities as well as training and discussions groups

This term's courses for lone parents include:


Preparation for Work

Mondays 10am-12noon
Learn how to identify and improve your skills, find an advert for a job you want, how to write a good CV, aplplication form and covering letter, how to do well at interviews and how to be confident


TEACHING ASSISTANT

Tuesdays 10am-12 noon
A 2 term accredited course qualifying you to work in local schools


Assetiveness and Decision-Making

Wednesdays 10am-12.30pm
Learn how to be assertive in any situation, be clear on your rights and responsibilities, ask for what you want, say 'no' in a way people listen to, how to take criticism constructively, how to spot put-downs and deal with them effectively and how to make good decesions that benefits you.

JOB CLUB AND MAVIS BEACON COURSE

Thursdays 10-3pm
Meet weekly to jobsearch on the internet, access to telephones, newspapers and live vacancies, support with application forms and Cv, and practice brushing up your typing speed.


RSA CLAIT

Fridays 10am -12.30pm
Start working on a professionally recognised IT qualification


INTRODUCTION TO IT

Fridays 1-3.30pm
Suitable for beginners or rusty users


MONTHLY EMPLOYMENT PREPARATION WORKSHOPS

Offering those who are job or nearly job ready extra help in:

  • Completing application forms, CV creation, Skills Analysis, Interview techniques 
  • Referrals to 'Dress for Success' for interview outfits, Building Confidence, Presentation Skills
  • Letter Writing, Help with Job Search
  • Advice on 'Better Off in Work Calculations', Self Employment

FINDERMINDER CHILDMINDING NETWORK

Finderminder recruits, trains and markets our own team of qualified and supported childminders, providing a childminder toy library, equipment swap and drop in service. Find minder also has its own mobile crèche services etc. we are recruiting our team mobile crèche workers.
